Master Floro has a long history in the martial arts, in both eastern and western
systems. As such he has been able to find common ground between all systems of
edged weapon combat to develop a truly unique and effective system.
Since developing FFS, Master Floro has been touring, demonstrating and teaching his
unique system to other martial artists, real based self-defence instructors, police and
military units throughout the world.
In 2003 Master Floro was formally engaged to update and develop the, 'Edged Weapon
Awareness' (EWA) package for the Australian Military Self Defence (MSD) program.
Since then Master Floro has annually presented this package at the Australian Defence
Force Academy and other individual Army units. Master Floro is utilised as an
impact/edged weapon Subject Matter Expert and is currently working with the
instructors of the newly established Army Military Unarmed Combat (MUC) Cell.
Master Floro is also working with the NSW Police to introduce a new 'Edged Weapons
Defence' program into the Force.
Floro Fighting Systems (FFS) developed by Master
Raymond Floro is a system of Edged Weapon
combat and defence that is one of the most effective
systems of self-defence available today. Efficient,
direct and immediate, FFS is one of the very few
styles that is still based on the blade, and is used by
civilians, members of the military, and law
enforcement agencies worldwide.
Based in Sydney, with over 30 years of experience,
Master Floro has instructed internationally: US
Special Forces, Korean Special Forces, various
SWAT teams, the New Zealand Police, and nationally
members of the Australian Federal Police and
Military have individually sought private instruction.
Mu Yeh Taekwondo Head Instructor, Steve Ashbridge,
first met Master Floro at a training seminar in 2002. He
has trained privately, one on one, with Master Floro
since 2006. It was at the end of 2007 that Master Floro
offered Steve to complete his Instructors training
course for FFS. It is very rare for Master Floro to accept
individual students, especially outside the military or
police let alone to be offered the Instructors course.
Steve felt very honoured and gladly accepted.
In November 2008, Steve was awarded his FFS
Instructors certification. With approximately 25 FFS
Instructors throughout the world, Steve joins the
handful of civilian Instructors with the majority being in
the various military and police forces.
Since 2002, FFS techniques have been incorporated
into Mu Yeh Taekwondo's own self defence system,
especially with weapons self defence.
